The Gita For Children - By Roopa Pai

It's one of the oldest books in the world - Questions comes to our mind that isn't it meant only for religious old people? Isn't it very long and,  super difficult to read? Isn't the stuff it talks about way too complex for regular folks to understand?

Prepare to be surprised. Roopa Pai's spirited, one-of-a-kind retelling of the epic conversation between Pandava prince Arjuna and his mentor and friend Krishna busts these and other such myths about the Bhagavad Gita. Lucid, thought-provoking and brimming with fun trivia, this book will stay with you long after you have turned the last page.

Are we giving the right knowledge to our kids? Our children are getting anglicized. We are deeply inculcating secularism in them. While we forgot that our Sanatan Dharma has secularism embedded in it. We should allow them to know our rich heritage, culture, heavenly thought provoking literature. Learning a full fledged Gita with explanation may be difficult to understand so why not try this one. Kids will be glued to this. Just help them understand. That is our duty.

This book is available in Kindle version, paper back and Audible version. Get Audible version 30 days free from Amazon.

Post COVID 19 Lock Down - Measures to Support Local Economy

The lock-down is partially relaxed based on the non recurrence of Covid 19 patients in some of the districts across the country. People are slowly coming out in these green zones for buying non essentials as well. Neighborhood shops are slowly opening to bring their business on track. However, shopping malls, commercial complexes are still restricted.

The lock-down effort taken by GOI is commendable. It saved thousands of people across the country. However, this gave a humongous impact on our economy. Businesses of essential items like food, medicine, petroleum etc. are somehow ventured through this difficult time. But businesses with non essential items had a very tough time during the entire lock down. Big businesses like shopping mall owners, multistory grocery stores, and franchisee outlets will absorb the sock it has got from this lock down. But the smaller shops will have difficult time in near future to compensate their losses. Hundred and thousands will loose their jobs from all classes of our society.

Government will incur huge losses this entire year in all their departments. Relief packages given for the needy will also impact its annual budget for the current and upcoming years. But we the people of India always supported government be it Kargil war, Gujarat earthquake, Kerala and Karnataka floods or Covid 19. We wholeheartedly support and donate to the government in whatever form possible for us during similar crisis. Some donated money, some donated food to the poor and needy.

Now it is our turn to ponder on the different measures to support our local economy. It always comes to our mind, what an individual should do to help economy bring back track. There are certain measures if we collectively perform, then I believe it can help both smaller and bigger Indian businesses.

To start with - Both groceries and green groceries can be bought from local neighborhood shops instead of big shopping malls and complexes. Same is the case with non essential items shops. Approach local shops for your regular items requirements. If you shop online groceries then buy products from our own manufacturers.  Buy products of Patanjali, ITC etc. For morning door step dairy delivery, opt for local kirana shops doing the same.

For cars, go for Mahindra and Mahindra or Tata Motors. They also manufacture good and luxury cars. For two wheeler, go for Bajaj, Hero and TVS. For electronic items, go for Godrej, Videocon, Bajaj, IFB, Whirlpool to name a few. For leather products, go for Khadims, Sree Leathers. Help Khadi gram udyog by buying at least a pair of khadi dress for you and your family once in 6 months. Gift Indian toys, books etc. in Birth Days, anniversaries and marriage functions.

To sum up, where ever possible - Go-For-Swadeshi. This will ultimately help the local economy bounce back comparatively faster.

COVID 19 - Post Lock down Precautionary Measures

March 25th 2020, Covid 19 lock down across the country was imposed. For over 40 days, entire country is in lock down mode except essential services. It is said that to make a good habit you need only 21 days of continuous practice. We all must have acquired some good habit during the lock down period. We should continue these good practices entire year to stay away from this deadly virus which is just waiting for the people to cross this Lock down Laxman-Rekha. Experts believe that this virus is going to stay for this entire year. Unless otherwise we ourselves behave, this virus is not going to diminish.

So, continue practicing the following which has now inculcated in our daily life. These are to safeguard ourselves, our family and friends.
  • Prefer staying at home. Do not go out unless it is essential. Even if you go out please wear latex gloves and dispose it once back home
  • Stay away from crowded public places like shopping malls, cinema halls
  • Avoid travelling in buses, trains and flight as much as possible
  • Keep washing your hands frequently with hand wash especially before eating. Or use hand alcohol based hand sanitizer.
  • Clean your home, daily usage stuff like computers, laptops and mobile with disinfectant like Dettol, Lizol etc.
  • Use alcohol based hand sanitizer where you don't fine hand was handy.
  • If possible order groceries from online shops like Flipkart, Amazon, and Grofers to avoid going in to crowded places
  • For green groceries you can opt for Big Basket, Big Basket daily etc.
  • It is indeed difficult but stay away from parties and maintain social distancing entire this year
  • For local commuting prefer taking your own vehicle or use non shared Ola and Uber.
  • Continue using 3 ply face masks whenever you go out
  • Prefer working from home if option available
  • Avoid compact dine out in restaurants
  • Get an Infra Red Thermometer and check visitors (Electricians, Plumbers, maids and cooks) before allowing them at home. Ex Acu-check Thermometer.
If we maintain social distancing and follow the above given safeguard steps then we can beat the impact of Covid 19 in the long run.
